avengers endgame treated their female characters terribly 

natasha romanoff: 

spent the five years after the snap acting as the leader of the avengers and was never given any recognition. sacrificed her life for the universe and the ones she loved most. and what was she given in return? whiny man pain, a single tear down steve’s face, and bruce banner throwing a bench into the water. (compare to tony, who died surrounded by his loved ones, had people kneel around him, and a funeral)

okoye & valkyrie: 

sidelined for the entirety of the film 

carol danvers:

sidelined for the entirety of the film despite being the most powerful character

nebula: 

shot herself (2014 nebula) in the head. while this is symbolic and all, 2014 nebula could have grown and changed just like 2024 nebula had if she was given the chance. nebula ALSO didn’t get to kill her abuser (thanos) both of the times he died over the course of the film. 

gamora: 

was never mentioned after being brutal killed by her abuser. instead of allowing closure or redemption for the character (or hey, found a way to bring her back), they brought the gamora from another timeline into the mix. 

pepper potts: 

sidelined and treated primarily as a love interest

hope: 

functioned primarily as a love interest and motivator to the Man (scott mourned her and that was his main reason for trying to save the universe, despite the other loved ones he lost in the snap)

peggy carter: 

no lines. exists for the man. treated 10000% as The Love Interest. had all of her character development ( she moved on from steve, became more independent) and her future (she married someone else, probably sousa, had kids, etc etc) completely demolished and erased 

but yah. that one scene of #girlpower really made up for this shit right (:
